Nikos Panagiotakis was born in Greece, in 1963.

His activities expand through a plethora of artistic realms and collaborations. Through the Cultural Exchange Civil Company he has a cooperation with the Thames Valley University (T.V.U.) and represents in Greece both the R.G.T (Registry of Guitar Tutors) and the L.C.M ( London College of Music). The purpose of this collaboration is to disseminate in Greece the music education and examination system of this university.

As a professor of Composition, Advanced Theory and Modern Guitar he is an associate of the conservatories Anagennisi and Central. Since 2002, he is the Art Director on the conservatory Musiki Praxi, while during the period between 2000 and 2006 he cooperated with the Music Department of the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Haidari (district of Athens), Within the scope of his artistic responsibility were the Mixed Choir, the Chamber Choir Ensemble and the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra. He also coordinates the curricula of the students and the instructors that participate in the Music Department of the center. He is also responsible for the artistic aspect of various events, concerts etc, organized by this department.

He studied Classical Guitar. In 1981, he begun his studies in Advanced Theory (Classic Harmony,Counterpoint and Fuge), under the guidance of Costas Klavas. During the same period he had his first encounter with jazz and improvisation music through his instructor Ìarkos Alexiou. In 1993, he began his studies in Modern Composition guidance of his teacher, Theodore Ántoniou and gradually limited his activity as a guitarist, while at the same time, he increased his composing works.

Since 1983, he began his first appearances as a guitarist mostly in jazz groups while he also had some occasional collaborations with the Athens Concert Hall and the Greek Composers' Guild.

His first works were mainly musical scores for theatrical plays, already from the period of 1988. From 1993 onward, his themes change style since under the guidance of his teacher, Theodore Ántoniou he ventures more creative quests in sound and the music scenes of the 20th cent. He received his diploma in 1996. He has also followed lessons in Conducting, under the same professor.

In the summer of 1995 he followed a series of seminars with Michel Merlet (professor of Ecole Normal de Paris) on the subject "Advanced Theory, Fuge Analysis from Bach to the 20th cent., Chamber Music, Orchestral Music of the 20th cent.,Contemporary Composition, Orchestration».

He has also followed seminars on Choir Conducting in 1987 under the instruction of Nikos Efthimiades and Master Class of Choir Conducting with Peter Erdei of the Kodaly institut, in 2001.

He has composed numerous works for solo instruments, small ensembles, chamber music, orchestral music, violoncello concerts, piano etc.

His sextet «Deep of the Sea» was presented in 1998 at the Athens Concert Hall. Moreover, within the framework of the Panhellenic Composition Competition that took place in 1998 to commemorate G. Papaioannou, his work «String Quarter Íï1» was awarded the 3rd prize. His work «Rotations É & ÉÉ» written for orchestra was distinguished in the 17th ALEA III International Composition Competition in 1999 and was presented in October of the same year at the Tsai Performance Center in Boston.

Since 2004, he is a member of the Greek Composers' Union.
